On July 10th,2023 Jon G. Lombardi was appointed as Undersheriff by Sheriff Michael G. Mastronardy. Undersheriff Lombardi is in charge of the Professional Standards Unit and the Judicial Division of the Sheriff’s Office. The largest Division in the Sheriff’s Office is responsible for providing security for the Justice Complex, Judicial security and investigations’, along with providing security for many other county buildings.
Undersheriff Lombardi brings with him 32 years of law enforcement experience. He began his career with the Seaside Heights Police Department in 1992 as a Class 2 seasonal police officer. He was hired full time by that agency in 1994 and rose through the ranks retiring as a Captain in 2023. Undersheriff Lombardi served for 14 years as the Patrol Commander and second in charge of the Seaside Heights Police Department.
During his career Undersheriff Lombardi started or lead several different units with Seaside Heights. His early career focused on narcotics enforcement, forming the Seaside Heights street crimes unit which focused on narcotics enforcement and other quality of life issues. During his time in narcotics he served with both the Ocean County Narcotics Strike Force, and the South Jersey unit of the United States Drug Enforcement Administration. He was recognized for his efforts with both those agencies.
In 2012 Undersheriff Lombardi helped lead the Seaside Heights Police Departments response to Super Storm Sandy. For his efforts he was appointed the Deputy OEM coordinator for the Borough of Seaside Heights. Undersheriff Lombardi has received numerous department citations and has received two New Jersey State P.B.A. awards for Valor. He is also a member the New Jersey Honor Legion of police officers.
Undersheriff Lombardi is a lifelong resident of Ocean County, growing up in Seaside Heights. He is a graduate of Central Regional High School prior to attending both Ocean County College and Stockton State College. Outside of law enforcement Undersheriff Lombardi has served on the board of his children’s school and the board of his synagogue. He resides in Lacey Township with his wife of twenty-nine years and three children.
